Trainer & Assessor

Simon Roe is an esteemed culinary mentor and seasoned chef with a rich tapestry of experience in the international gastronomy scene. Educated in Sydney, with a Craft Certificate in Commercial Cookery from Loftus TAFE and a Certificate IV in Training and Assessing from Gymea TAFE College, Simon’s educational foundation is as robust as his passion for food.

His culinary journey has seen him ascend from the prestigious kitchens of The Number One Aldwych in London to the vibrant Icebergs Restaurant & Bar in Sydney. As an entrepreneur, he has owned and managed his own dining establishments, such as The Italian Job Penshurst and a modern Italian restaurant launched in 2008. His leadership skills were further honed overseeing a brigade of 43 at Sydney International Airport, managing multiple food and beverage outlets.

Now, Simon channels his extensive industry knowledge into education, nurturing the next generation of chefs as a trainer assessor in commercial cookery. His hands-on approach in both theoretical and practical classes at the Australian International College and Sydney College reflects his dedication to culinary arts and his commitment to student development. Simon’s transition to education is driven by a new-found passion, where he aims to inspire with his rich background and innovative culinary concepts.
